Vineyard
The wine comes from young vines (younger than 10 years) on Vacqueyras terroir that was deliberately declassified to Côtes-du-Rhône. Approximately 15% of the noble terroirs are selected for this purpose. Despite the young age of the vines, the terroir plays a decisive role in the quality. The soils of Vacqueyras (clay, limestone, galets roulés) provide ripe fruit with freshness. The southern Rhône zone offers ripeness without losing finesse.
Vinification
Manual harvesting followed by full destemming. Vinification involves subtle pump-overs to keep extraction gentle. The focus is on suppleness and fruit expression rather than power. No excessive oak influence, so the fruit remains central. The result is an accessible yet aromatically layered wine.

Domaine Montvac
