Vineyard

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne's vineyards are located in the north of Saint-Emilion, close to Pomerol. They own just under 29 hectares of plots planted with 6,000 to 8,000 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines is 15 years, yielding 42 hl per hectare. Green harvesting is practiced. The soil consists of calcareous sandy soil over a subsoil of iron oxide and old sandy soil mixed with clay. The estate has held organic farming certification since 2013, meaning no herbicides are used.

Vinification

The grapes are hand-picked and then transported in small crates to the winery. The grapes undergo no fewer than 5 selections. During the joint fermentation and maceration, the wine is gently pumped over several times. 50% of the wine matures in 2-year-old oak barrels, the other half matures in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled 21 months after the harvest.
