Vineyard
The 24.6 hectares of vineyards are spread across various terroirs within Pomerol. The soils consist of gravel, sandy clay, and ferruginous subsoils ("crasse de fer"), which contributes to both power and refinement. Biodynamic farming promotes biodiversity and a natural balance in the vineyard. The warm but manageable conditions of 2019 yielded perfectly ripe grapes with remarkable freshness. The combination of gravel and clay gives the wine its typical mineral and velvety character.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand between September 16 and October 5, 2020. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel tanks, adapted to each plot and grape variety. The wine was aged partly in French oak barrels, partly in concrete tanks, and partly in concrete eggs. Only a limited proportion of new wood was used to allow the terroir to express itself fully. This approach results in an elegant and terroir-driven style with great finesse.
