Vineyard

The vineyard is located in the heart of the Drôme, along the Rhône river and at the foot of the Vercors mountains, overlooking the cliffs of the “Trois Becs”. The terroir consists of clay-limestone soils, which produces a fresh, fruity wine. The vineyard is currently undergoing organic conversion, emphasising the sustainability of its production.

Vinification

Les Craies Rouges is produced with minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the Syrah grape. The grapes undergo partial destemming upon arrival at the cellar, followed by several pump-overs and 100% fermentation in concrete vats. This ensures a direct expression of the fruitiness and mineral notes, typical of the clay-limestone terroir. The use of concrete vats enhances the minerality of the soil.

Domaine et Maison les Alexandrins is een project van drie monumenten uit de wijnwereld uit het Noorden van de Rhône vallei : Nicolas Jaboulet vertegenwoordigt de 6e generatie van een wijnbouwersfamilie die sinds 1834 actief is te Tain in Hermitage. Hij staat ook aan het hoofd van het in 2007 opgerichte Maison Nicolas Perrin. De 2e partner is Guillaume Sorrel, zoon van Marc Sorrel van het Domaine Sorrel in Hermitage. Alexandre Caso maakt het plaatje compleet door zijn uitgebreide kennis van de terroirs in de streek. Hun eerste gezamenlijke ontmoeting dateert uit 2012. Guillaume Sorrel en Alexandre Caso werkten al wat langer samen en hebben in 2009 het Domaine Les Alexandrins in Mercurol opgericht. Bij de start van hun samenwerking richtten ze zich voornamelijk op enkele wijngaarden van La Maison Nicolas Perrin in Crozes-Hermitage waar ze perceel per perceel de mogelijkheden bekeken om de kwaliteit te kunnen verhogen.
