Vineyard

The vineyards at an altitude of 450 meters, surrounded by limestone and clay, offer the ideal environment for Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano grapes. The unique terroir ensures optimal drainage, moisture retention, and cooler night temperatures, resulting in wines with vibrant acidity and pronounced aromas. From our prominent vineyards, including Chulato-Abalos, El Sacramento-San Vicente, Los Pozos-San Vicente, and Alto del Ramo-Longares, the essence of our pursuit of excellence emerges, with wines that perfectly embody the character of their terroir.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and then carefully pressed before the juice is transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation at a controlled low temperature. After a week of maceration, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in the same tanks. The wine then continues to mature in French oak barrels, 15% of which are new, allowing the wine to develop subtle nuances of vanilla, spices, and wood.

Bodegas Exopto, opgericht in 2003 door Tom Puyaubert, heeft als doel oude wijngaarden op de hellingen van de Sierra Cantabria en Monte Yerga te herstellen. Hun streven is om de veelheid aan terroirs die de Rioja DOCA vormen tot uitdrukking te brengen door middel van duurzame en milieuvriendelijke wijnbouw. Het doel van Bodegas Exopto is om eerlijke en authentieke wijnen te produceren met enthousiasme en een terugkeer naar ambachtelijk wijngaardwerk. Dit is hun passie. Een grote wijn wordt gemaakt in de wijngaard. Deze uitspraak is zowel banaal als waar. In de wijnmakerij bestaat het werk uit het ontwikkelen van de identiteit van de percelen en het versterken van het karakter van de druiven. Daarom werkt Bodegas Exopto met minimale tussenkomst in alle stadia van de productie en gebruiken ze alleen respectvolle materialen zoals cement of Frans eikenhout.
