Vineyard

The bunches come from subplots with the oldest vines in the San Marcello vineyard, which is located 220 meters above sea level. The soil consists of limestone, clay, and sand. The vines are over 50 years old.

Winemaking

The harvesting is done by hand. After pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats. This is followed by 18 months of aging on fine lees in stainless steel tanks. A very small portion is aged for 12 months in amphorae. Finally, the wine rests for another 12 months in the bottle in the cellars of the estate.

Aan de Adriatische Zee, op ongeveer dezelfde breedtegraad als Toscana, vinden we met de Marche een minder gekende en populaire wijnregio. Wat eigenlijk ten onrechte is: ze profiteren er van dezelfde klimatologische omstandigheden. Het wijnhuis Filodivino, dat zo’n 20 km landinwaarts ligt in het hinterland van Ancona, kent dan ook nog eens het typische golvende landschap waardoor een perfect inplanting van de wijngaarden ten opzichte van de zon mogelijk wordt.
