Vineyard

The grapes come from hillside vineyards in Bairrada, where optimal sun exposure ensures slow and complete ripening of the Baga grape. The Atlantic climate preserves the wine's natural freshness and tension. The combination of slopes and maritime influence yields grapes with great concentration, finesse, and excellent aging potential. These terroirs showcase the most elegant expression of Baga.

Vinification

The grapes are vinified plot by plot in small tanks with manual pump-overs to ensure gentle extraction. After pressing, the young wine is immediately transferred to used 500-litre oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine then matures in barrels for a minimum of twelve months. The wine is bottled relatively early to best preserve its fruit expression, freshness, and refined tannins.

Vadio, gevestigd in het pittoreske dorpje Poutena in de Bairrada-regio, is een familiebedrijf dat in 2005 werd opgericht door Luís Patrão. Geïnspireerd door de rijke tradities van de regio, zette Luís zich in om de verloren gegane inheemse druivensoorten nieuw leven in te blazen en authentieke DOC Bairrada-wijnen te produceren. Hun verhaal begon bescheiden, met slechts 0,5 hectare familiewijngaard, maar is sindsdien uitgegroeid tot een gerespecteerd wijnhuis, dat trouw blijft aan zijn oorsprong en de waarden van duurzaamheid en respect voor de natuur hoog in het vaandel heeft.
