Vineyard
The vineyards are situated on gravelly soils in Saint-Julien with deep drainage and ideal stress for Cabernet Sauvignon. The average vine age is relatively younger than that of the grand vin. 2019 saw a contrasting season with a wet spring and a warm, dry summer, leading to small berries and high concentration. Harvesting was carefully staggered to ensure optimal phenolic ripeness. This resulted in a year with a powerful yet fresh structure.
Vinification
Vinification takes place plot by plot, with separate fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Strict selection is applied, including optical sorting technology for optimal ripeness. Extraction is controlled to maintain a balance between fruit expression and a soft tannin structure. The wine ages for approximately 13 months in French oak, with a limited proportion of new wood (±20%). The aim is an approachable yet structured second wine style with earlier drinkability.
