Vineyard

The vineyards are located on a plateau at 93 meters altitude, south of the Loire. The soil consists of clay-silt soils with black schist as the parent rock. The domain has been working organically since 2000. 2022 was hot and very dry, but thanks to cover crops between the rows, deep roots, and some rain just before harvest, the grapes remained beautifully ripe and concentrated. Yields were moderate and of high quality.

Vinification

The grapes were harvested manually, with staggered picking times per variety. Gamay, a portion of the Grolleau, and a portion of the Cabernet Franc were fermented via carbonic maceration to emphasize fruitiness and suppleness. The remaining parcels underwent classic maceration with one to two pump-overs for an average of 15 days. Fermentation occurred with indigenous yeasts. The wine was aged in tank, followed by blending and light filtration with a minimal sulfur dioxide addition of 2 g/hl at bottling.
