The Canneto estate is located on the western slopes of Montepulciano near the church of San Biagio, offering impressive views; thanks to its unique landscape, it also served as the setting for filming Quantico 3 and a Dolce & Gabbana advertising campaign.

Vinification

The destemmed grapes are gently pressed and then fermented for 15 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26°C with selected yeasts, after which the wine ages for 6 months in steel tanks and at least 3 months further in the bottle.

Het verhaal van Canneto begint verrassend genoeg in Zwitserland. In de jaren zeventig importeerde een groep wijnliefhebbers uit Zürich regelmatig tafelwijn uit Montepulciano. Toen steeds meer vrienden zich bij hen aansloten en de wijn per pallet werd besteld, ontstond het idee om zelf een domein in hun geliefde wijnstreek te kopen. Die droom werd werkelijkheid toen Azienda Agricola Canneto in 1987 te koop kwam. De vrienden werden meteen verliefd op het domein en zijn schitterende ligging aan de westzijde van Montepulciano. De wijngaarden bevinden zich op 300 tot 400 meter hoogte en kijken uit over de historische stad en de kerk van San Biagio. De zuidwestelijk georiënteerde hellingen rusten op kiezelrijke bodems met veel mergel. Naast wijn produceert Canneto ook een kleine hoeveelheid olijfolie.
