Appellation - Vernaccia di San Gimignano
Vineyard
The grapes come from the Santa Margherita vineyard, located west of San Gimignano at an altitude of 260 to 310 meters. The vines are on average 50 years old, which ensures low yields and high concentration. The soil consists mainly of tufa with sand and yellow clay. The The vineyard has an almost full sun exposure, which contributes to optimal ripening. Harvesting is done manually with strict selection.
Winemaking
The grapes are gently pressed in whole bunches. Fermentation takes place partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks, ensuring a subtle balance between freshness and structure. The wine then matures for 5 to 6 months on the lees in the same barrels. This is followed by another 12 months of bottle aging. This combination adds complexity without losing the typical characteristics of the Vernaccia.
