Vineyard
The plots, with a total area of 9 hectares, are located in Quinta da Leira and Tremoa, in Oliveira de Barreiros. The poor, granite soil is situated 440 meters above sea level. The vines are between 23 and 40 years old and yield 5.6 tons of grapes per hectare.
Vinification
The bunches are picked by hand. All grape varieties undergo separate vinification. The bunches are destemmed, after which the collective maceration and fermentation takes place in 45 hl stainless steel tanks. This process takes place at 26 °C and lasts 10 days. This is followed by slow malolactic fermentation. The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels (225 l to 500 l) that are between 1 and 15 years old.
