Vineyard

The grapes come from 24 hectares of vineyards spread over 22 plots, mainly terraced on the steep slopes along the Douro. The soil consists of limewashed schist and is fertilized exclusively with natural products. The plots are primarily north and north-east facing, providing some protection from the scorching summer sun. The 10 to 70-year-old vines are deep-rooted and find their nourishment in the moisture-rich deeper soil layers. The vineyards are cultivated solely by manual labor.

Winemaking

The grapes come from the historic and steep, terraced vineyards in the Cima Corgo subregion. The soil here consists mainly of slate (schist), which ensures excellent water retention and a distinctive minerality. The vines range in age from 10 to as much as 70 years old and have deep root systems. The plots are primarily north and northeast facing, protecting the grapes from the most intense afternoon sun. Vineyard management is done entirely by hand and with only natural fertilizers.
