Vineyard

The grapes come from the Buisson terroir, located on a hill north of Rasteau and Cairanne at an altitude of 180 to 250m with a northeast/northwest orientation. This location ensures the wine's minerality and freshness. The soil is very complex, consisting of clay and limestone covered with pebbles of maritime and alluvial origin. The rich and diverse vegetation around the vineyard, of which 3 hectares are used for the César, contributes to the complexity of the wines. The vines are 20 to 30 years old and yield 30 hl per hectare. Viticulture is biodynamic, meaning no pesticides or herbicides are used.

Winemaking

The harvest and bottling follow cosmic rhythms. It is therefore a biodynamic wine with no chemical additives. After picking, the grapes are transported in small 10 kg boxes to the winery. Pressing is followed by a long fermentation of 7 to 9 months in demi-muids and oak barrels, at a constant temperature of 15 °C. This technique preserves the flavours of the terroir and the minerality. Fermentation is followed by bâtonnage, which makes the wine more powerful and brings out its rich aromas.

In het bosrijke en golvende landschap waar het riviertje L’Aigue de scheiding vormt tussen de Vaucluse en Drôme vinden we Domaine Roche-Audran. De huidige eigenaar is Vincent Rochette die het in 1998 overnam en zo de 5e generatie wijnbouwer werd. Het wijnhuis ligt vlak aan de Buisson wijngaard waar reeds door 4 generaties wijn werd verbouwd. In totaal bewerken ze drie terroirs: Vaison La Romaine, Châteauneuf-du-Pape en Visan die over 35 hectare wijngaarden zijn uitgespreid. Het belangrijkste aspect in het wijnbouw-gebeuren voor Vincent is het respect voor de natuur en de omgeving, en dit met ons aller gezondheid als belangrijkste drijfveer. Zowel in de wijngaarden als in de wijnkelder werkt hij op een volledig biodynamische wijze. Het domein heeft twee hoofdobjectieven: de authenticiteit en de expressie van het terroir maximaal in hun wijnen laten weerspiegelen.
