Vineyard
The vineyards are located on a plateau at 93 meters altitude, south of the Loire. The soil consists of argillaceous-silty soils with black schist as the bedrock. The domain has been working organically since 2000. 2022 was hot and very dry, but thanks to cover crops between the rows, deep rooting, and some rain just before the harvest, the grapes remained beautifully ripe and concentrated. Yields were moderate and of high quality.
Vinification
The grapes were hand-harvested, with staggered picking times for each variety. Gamay, part of the Grolleau, and part of the Cabernet Franc were fermented using carbonic maceration to highlight fruitiness and suppleness. The remaining parcels underwent classic maceration with one to two pump-overs over an average of 15 days. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts. Ageing occurred in tanks, followed by blending and light filtration with a minimal sulfur dioxide addition of 2 g/hl at bottling.
