Vineyard
The vineyards are on typical Pauillac gravel soils with a limestone subsoil, ensuring drainage and stress for the vine. Average vine age around 30–35 years. The terroir provides classic Left Bank structure with Cabernet Sauvignon dominance. 2016 had a dry summer with ideal phenolic ripening and cool nights, resulting in a balance between ripeness and acidity. Harvest ran from late September to mid-October under optimal conditions.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by parcel and rigorously sorted for optimal ripeness. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats with slow extraction to preserve finesse. The wine undergoes a long maceration for color and tannin structure. Aging occurs for approximately 16–18 months in French oak, with around 60% new barriques. The goal is more precision and elegance compared to earlier, heavier extraction styles.
